Sydney’s Thanh Vu and Auckland based fighter Ev Ting both have their next One FC assignments, with the Trans-Tasman pair slated for the promotion’s return to Stadium Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on March 13. Vu will make his flyweight debut at the event and meet local fighter Gianni Subba, while Ting will square off with Cary Bullos from the Philippines.
Previously fighting in the promotion’s bantamweight division, Thanh ‘Aladdin’ Vu (5-3 MMA, 1-2 One FC), who trains at the Martial Arts Development gym in Sydney, makes the drop to flyweight following back to back 2013 defeats against Kevin Belingon and Dae Hwan Kim. The losses followed the 22 year-old’s impressive promotional debut at One FC 7 where he stopped Mohd Fouzein with strikes in just 63 seconds.
His opponent, Gianni Subba (4-1 MMA, 4-1 One FC), has spent his entire pro career in the leading Asian based promotion and is coming off a second round submission win over Ruel Catalan in June of last year. Subba, 22, trains out of Phuket Top Team in Thailand.
Fighting out of the Auckland MMA gym, 25 year-old Malaysian featherweight Ev Ting (8-2 MMA, 2-0 One FC) will be looking to make it three wins on the trot come March 13, following stoppage wins over Yohan Legowo and most recently, Edward Kelly at One FC 21: Roar of Tigers in October.
Ting comes up against 31 year-old former URCC champion Cary Bullos (7-2 MMA, 0-1 One FC). Bullos made an unsuccessful One FC debut in November, losing in just 29 seconds to Major Overall by rear-naked choke.
One FC 25: Age of Champions will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between defending champion Adriano Moraes and Japanese challenger Asuka Mikami.
