Recently crowned Brace welterweight champion Theo Christakos will put his belt on the line for the first time this weekend. In what will be a clash of Sydney based fighters, Christakos (6-2) will square off with Andrew Mills (7-1) in the main event of Brace 47, which takes place this Saturday night at the Big Top in Luna Park. The event will also be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
Training out of the KMA gym, Christakos claimed the welterweight strap in November, overcoming a d’arce choke attempt from dangerous Central Coast fighter Rick Alchin before turning the tide and stopping the BJJ brown belt with hammerfist strikes on the canvas.
Mills his opponent for Saturday night is a regular in the Brace promotion where he remains undefeated. Like Christakos, the SPMA trained fighter, who goes into the fight as the betting underdog, also holds a 2016 win over Alchin adding intrigue to the contest.
The fight will be contested over five five-minute rounds.

The previously mentioned Rick Alchin (14-12) returns to the promotion where he will look to bounce back against David Francis (4-3) in the co-main event.
Alchin will no doubt be eager to impress on the night and move back into title contention. Prior to the Christakos loss, the welterweight was coming off consecutive wins against Tristan Murphy and James Klingner.
PMA Sydney’s David Francis is another regular in the promotion and is coming off a TKO win over Sam Hayward at MMA by the Bay back in September, 2016.
Among other matchups slated for the show, entertaining featherweight Nurbolat Kuandyk returns to face Beau Luxford. Byron Cowell will take on Ben Watson and in a WMMA bout, Mel Zeman will meet Claire Todd.
