MMA Down Under lightweight title holder, and South Australia kickboxing champion, Myles Simpson, scored the biggest win of his short MMA career on Saturday night, upsetting local veteran Jai Bradney in the Valor 10 main event.

Bradney scored a takedown straight from the opening bell to start the featherweight clash, as Simpson opened up with a leg kick. Simpson looked to work back to his feet, as Bradney searched for another takedown against the cage. Simpson took the back of the former Nitro champion soon after, locking up a rear-naked choke from there. The South Australian forced the tap within seconds to win the short lived contest, and move his undefeated record to five wins. Bradney, on the other hand, loses his fourth straight fight with the result.

Also remaining undefeated on Saturday night, Perth native Ryan Gray advanced his record to 5-0 by submitting Townsville’s Kris Spence by rear-naked choke in the first round. Like the main event, the co-headliner was also contested at featherweight.

Gray was on the front foot early with a kick-punch combination. Spence attempted a head kick, however Gray ducked under it and took the fight to the canvas. Spence did well to sweep Gray with a kimura and wind up in top position. He gained mount soon after, but only briefly as Gray bucked up and regained top position. The WA based fighter then landed a pair of short elbows on the ground, forcing Spence to search for a submission. Gray defended well and opened up with strikes and Spence scrambled as he tried to get back to his feet. He was unsuccessful however, as Gray found his back, locked up a rear naked choke and forced the tap.

All but one fight ended in a stoppage on Saturday night, with that being a unanimous decision win for Ben Salm over Ben Simpson. The sole knockout of the evening saw Matt ‘Nightmare’ Eland stop Dale Billett in just 10 seconds with a brutal left hook, which sent Billet flying face first into the canvas.

Valor 10, the Tassie based promotion’s debut interstate offering, took place at the Sleeman Sports Complex in Brisbane and was broadcast live at gfl.tv as an online pay-per-view.
