Australian bantamweight fighter Thanh Vu (pictured) made his third appearance in Asian promotion One Fighting Championships on Friday night however was not able to bring home the win, losing to his South Korean opponent Dae Hwan Kim.

The fight began with both fighters cautious, but was not long before flurries of punches were thrown by both fighters. Kim got the better of the early exchange that had Vu rocked however just before the end of the first round Vu punished Kim with a strong punch that dropped the South Korean with an uppercut but before VU could finish it, the bell went for the end of the round.

Vu changed his strategy early in the second round and secured the early takedown before taking his opponents back. Kim worked his way out, where he worked into side-control before Vu managed to work back to his feet. From here Kim took control, rocking Vu with strikes on his feet before taking the Sydney based fighter down. Wasn’t long before Kim was able to take the back and slide in the rear-naked choke submission to get the tap at 4:10.

The loss was Vu’s second in a row after losing back in April against highly regarded Kevin Belingon. In Vu’s One FC debut back in February he defeated late replacement Mohd Fouzein with strikes early in to the fight. Kim moves his professional record to 9-0, 1 draw in what was his One FC debut.

One FC 13 was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines with Koji Oishi defeating local favourite Honorio Banario in the main event to defend his One FC featherweight title.
