Sydney born fighter Anthony Perosh proved no match for American Ryan Bader (pictured) today going down via a unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Fight Night 33.

When the fight began it didn’t take long for Bader to rock Perosh early in the fight and as Perosh looked to close the distance, Bader again rocked him with heavy punches that this time dropped the Sydney fighter on his back. Perosh though worked back to his feet and landed some punches of his own. Perosh came forward looking for the takedown however Bader would trip Perosh and get the top position against the cage. Bader landed strikes and as Perosh turned his back he immediately looked to get the advantage by attempting to get his hooks in. Perosh though remained calm and managed to escape back to his feet.  Late in the round Bader again tripped Perosh and followed him to the ground where the 30 year-old American was able to land short strikes that opened up a cut over Perosh’s eye as the round ended.

Perosh pushed the action early in the second round however as they clinched, Bader tripped Perosh to the ground gaining the top position.  From there Bader went to work from side control, dropping heavy elbows and punches while against the cage.  The punishment continued for majority of the round as Bader remained tight in the top position, which kept Perosh on his back for the rest of the round. A completely dominating round from Bader, with Perosh needing a stoppage in the last round to take this one.

However the punishment from Bader continued as the American landed some heavy shots to put Perosh on his back again. Bader continued where he left off in the second round, by punishing Perosh with short punches and elbows from the top position. All bloodied up, Perosh a BJJ Black belt found his way back to his feet only to be taken down once again. Bader continued with the punishment until the final bell.

The scorecards came back 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26 to award the decision unanimously to Ryan Bader who also post-fight revealed that he hurt his hand in the opening round of the fight.

A dominating performance by Bader who bounced back from a recent loss to Glover Teixeira to take his professional record to 16-4 (UFC 9-4). It was Perosh’s second loss in three UFC fights as he drops to 14-8.

UFC Fight Night 33 was held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia and shown live in Australia on Fuel TV.
