‘Ruthless’ Rob Lisita has his next One Championship assignment, and it’s a crucial one for the Australian featherweight.
Coming off back to back losses in the promotion, Lisita (15-7 MMA, 1-2 One) will square off with top Russian prospect Timofey Nastyukhin (8-1 MMA, 1-0 One) at ‘ONE Championship 28: Warrior’s Quest’ on May 22 in Singapore.
It’s a fight that Lisita will be eager to triumph in, and recapture the form which saw him topple Yusuke Kawanago in just 28 seconds in his promotional debut. Following the impressive KO victory, Lisita took on Filipino fighter Eric Kelly, and after a strong start in what was a potential featherweight title eliminator, Lisita succumbed to a rear-naked choke in the second round. Most recently, the Phuket Top Team based product was submitted by Russia’s Marat Gafurov at One Championship 21 in October last year.
His opponent is riding an impressive eight-fight win streak with all his victories coming in the first round. Nastyukhin will be looking to make it 2-0 in the promotion after stopping Eduard Folayang in December. Prior to signing with Asia’s biggest MMA promotion, the 25 year-old FILA Pankration champion spent the majority of his MMA career fighting on local shows in Russia.
‘ONE Championship 28: Warrior’s Quest’ will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between defending champion Shinya Aoki and Japanese challenger Koji Ando at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, and will stream as an online pay-per-view in Australia.
