Following his first round knockout of Yusuke Kawanago at One FC 15, Rob Lisita (14-5) will make his Promotional return next month at One FC 18, where he will meet Eric Kelly (10-1) in a potential featherweight title eliminator fight.
One FC 18: War of Dragons, which takes place on Friday, 11 July, will mark the promotion’s first endeavor to Taiwan, with the show slated for the National Taiwan University Sports Centre in Taipei. The featherweight tilt will serve as the main event.
Widely regarded as Australia’s top featherweight, Lisita, 31, made a dominant start to his One FC campaign when he knocked out Kawanago at just 28 seconds of the opening frame at One FC 15: Rise of Heroes. With the win, ‘Ruthless’ avenged his 2012 loss to the Japanese veteran suffered under the Legend FC banner, while also making it four wins in a row.
A win over Kelly will likely earn the Aussie a shot at the promotion’s current featherweight kingpin Koji Oishi at some point in the near future.
For 32 year-old Kelly, a win over Lisita would be his second straight in MMA after submitting Jianbo Lu at URCC 24 back in November of last year. The Filipino standout’s sole career loss to date came at the hands of former champion Honorio Banario at One FC 7, a loss which snapped an impressive nine fight win streak for Kelly, which included wins over Jens Pulver and Australian fighter Brad Terrey. This fight will mark his fifth appearance for the promotion.
