Sydney based fighter James Te Huna has been matched up against Pride Fighting Championships & UFC superstar Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua in a fight that both fighters will be looking at rebounding from recent losses. The light-heavyweight sluggers will clash in what is expected to be the co main-event at UFC Fight Night 33 which is scheduled to be held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Queensland, Australia on December 7.

The fight was first mentioned by The Daily Telegraph, with UFC officials later confirming the match-up.

At 31 years of age, Te Huna brings a 16-6 (UFC 5-2) record into the fight and is coming off a first round loss to Glover Teixeira in his last outing. That snapped a four fight win streak in the UFC which included impressive victories over Joey Beltran and Ryan Jimmo. His only other loss in the UFC was to another fighter that would fight his way to a title shot in Alexander Gustafsson.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is a familiar name to most Mixed Martial Arts fans with many forgetting that he himself is only 31 years of age. having made his debut back in 2002. Rua has been fighting and competing on the highest level for the last decade and in that time has previously captured the UFC Light-heavyweight championship and and the Pride FC middleweight champion. He will be looking at rebounding from back-to-back losses to Alexander Gustafsson and most recently against Chael Sonnen.

Announced earlier this week to be headlining the card is a heavyweight bout between former K-1 champion Mark Hunt and Brazilian Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public on October 10.
