Integrated Hervey Bay’s Greg Atzori defended his Fightworld Cup lightweight title for the first time with a stoppage over Nick Robin on Saturday at Fightworld Cup 19.
The event took place at the Nerang Police Citizen Youth Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Atzori captured the promotions title with a second-round submission over Robin back in 2012 and proved it was no fluke, by securing the TKO stoppage last night. The official time was 3:20 in the second round. The win was Atzori’s second in a row after back-to-back losses last year to Alex Volkanovski and Craig Martin.
James Klingner continued made his claim for the promotions welterweight title with an enthatic first round TKO over Zach Hansford. The win, which came only 2:34 into the bout was Klingner’s third straight win.
Damien Fraser won a unanimous decision over Alex Anthony to make it two wins on the trot while youngster Garrett Gross also went to the judges in his unanimous decision victory over veteran Jason Preece.
Also notably on the card, Commonwealth games women’s wrestler Stevie Kelly took her record to 2-0 with a TKO over Linda Nikeller.
