New South Wales based female fighter Arlene Blencowe gave Tori Nelson the toughest fight of her career but ultimately went down via a split-points decision in a world boxing title bout over the weekend.
The fight was contested in Nelson’s home-state of Virgina, USA.

In her fourth title defense, undefeated WIBA Welterweight champion Tori “Sho Nuff” Nelson of Ashburn, VA received the toughest challenge to her title from Arlene Blencowe of Taree, New South Wales, Australia. However, Nelson managed to hang on to her title by 10-round split decision in front of a packed house at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA. Blencowe came out firing and rocked the champion in the first round. However, Nelson was able to maintain her composure and fought back,landing enough blows to hold on to the title. Judges Alisha Daniels and Gail Jasper scored the bout 96-94 for Nelson while judge Dorothea Perry saw the bout for Blencowe, 97-93. Nelson defends her title for the fourth time and remains undefeated at 11-0-2, one KO. Blencowe, who has held two world titles, is now 2-3.
Since making her debut back in 2012, Blencowe has been switching between Boxing and MMA bouts and is currently on a three-fight win streak in MMA, defeating tough New Zealand fighter Faith Van Duin in her last outing.
