Former two-time boxing world champion and rising Aussie MMA featherweight Arlene Blencowe will face American Alexis Dufresne in her Bellator debut at Bellator 137 on May 15.
Blencowe announced the news while making a guest appearance at Storm Damage 6 in Canberra last month.
UPDATE: Arlene Blencowe awaiting Bellator replacement after opponent falls pregnant.
It was back in October, 2014, when it was revealed that Blencowe had signed with the US based promotion. The 31 year-old Taree native will ride a solid three-fight win streak into the contest, after going a modest 2-4 to begin her MMA career. Most recently, Blencowe (5-4 MMA) put away previously undefeated Kiwi, Faith Van Duin, with a knee to the body at Storm Damage 5.
Also making her Bellator debut on the night, Dufresne (5-2 MMA), on the other hand, will be looking to end a two-fight skid after remaining winless in her UFC stint, losing unanimous decisions to Marion Reneau and Sarah Moras. Prior to signing with the UFC, the 24 year-old had amassed five straight wins, with a 45 second TKO of Kim Couture in early 2014 her last taste of victory.
Bellator 137 will take place at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calififornia, and features a main event clash between Brandon Halsey and Kendall Grove.
