Fast rising Australian prospect Alex Volkanovski has secured his first international contract, signing for Filipino & Guam promotion Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC).
The Freestyle Fighting Gym and Tiger Muay Thai trained fighter is scheduled to make his debut at PXC 45 on October 17.
Volkanovski (7-1) is currently riding a four fight win streak with wins coming against the likes of Rodolfo Marques and just last month against Jai Bradney. His lone loss came in the welterweight division at the hands of Corey Nelson.
“My MMA journey has been a constant progression; step by step I have worked my way up to be a recognisable name on the local scene and consider myself to be one of the best in Australia on a national level,” Volkanovski commented on his facebook fan page.
“I have been truly blessed to have made it this far and it is with great happiness that I announce that my journey has taken not only the next step but a massive leap as I have been signed by PXC which is a goal that I have been working toward for some time now and my first opportunity to prove myself on an international level.”
After starting off his career at welterweight, Volkanovski will be moving down to the featherweight division for his debut in PXC. The promotions featherweight champion is South Korean fighter Jang Yong Kim.
Pacific Xtreme Combat is one of the longest running promotions in the Asian region, having started off in Guam back in 2004. The promotion now splits events between Guam and the Philippines. Notable fighters that have participated in the event include Roy Nelson, Jeremy Horn and Hyun Gyu Lim.
News of who Volkanovski will face in his debut has not been released.
