Two New Zealand athletes captured gold at the IMMAF World Championships taking place in Las Vegas over the last week.

Brayden Graham won gold in the men’s flyweight division defeating athletes from France, Northern Ireland and Great Britain before securing a TKO victory over Irish finalist David Fogarty in the final. In doing so, Graham became the first Kiwi fighter to win the IMMAF world championships.

The New Zealand team would not have to wait for long as Byron Chivers won gold in the middleweight division. Chivers won three fights on the way to the semi-finals where he stopped European champion Rostem Akman. He then went on to face American Dallan Jennings in the final, winning a unanimous decision. An impressive performance for Chivers in one of the biggest divisions at the titles.

Australia was competing in the championships for the first time with Queensland fighter Andrew Stanway bringing home a bronze medal in the middleweight division.
