FX Australia has announced that The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 featuring Team Ronda Rousey taking on Team Miesha Tate will debut in Australia on September 5, express hours after it shows in the U.S.
The show will begin with a two-hour premiere and will conclude with the live finale set for early December which is scheduled to be shown live on FX in Australia.
The series will for the first time feature both women coaches and contestants as the current UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey coaches against rival Miesha Tate. The two have had a long and heated rivalry and first fought back in March 2012 in Strikeforce, where Rousey was able to finish Tate with her trademark armbar submission. Since then Rousey, a former Judo Olympic Bronze medalist, has gone on to become the first and only women fighter to win a UFC championship.
The contestants for the show have yet to be officially announced, however the female bantamweight contestants will also be joined in the house by male contestants, with both sexes living side by side. At the end a female and male contestant will be crowned The Ultimate Fighter and secure a contract with the UFC.
The Ultimate Fighter season 18 – Team Rousey vs Team Tate debuts in Australia on FX at 4:30pm AEST on Thursday, 5 September.
