Accomplished Muaythai and K-1 heavyweight Paul Slowinski could possibly make his MMA debut in September on an event in his home town of Adelaide according to presenter Mark Castagnini. News of the transition was mentioned by Castagnini on tonight’s episode of ‘Hammer Time Fight Show’ which was featured on Fox Sports.

Talk of Slowinski moving to MMA has been around for a couple years now and has never actually eventuated for one reason or another, but it looks to be a step closer with Slowinski spending time training with the Blackzilian team over in the Florida, USA. The team features notable UFC fighters including Rashad Evans, Alistair Overeem, and Vitor Belfort among others.

Slowinski showed interest in participating in the Combat8 series which is contested under modified rules attempt to bridge the gap between boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. With kicks not permitted, Slowinski decided against it.

Inside the kickboxing ring, Slowinski has won many accomplishments including regional K-1 tournament championships and wins over the likes of Ben Edwards, Peter Graham, Zabit Samedov, Mighty Mo, and Carter Williams. Born in Poland, Slowinski moved to Australia along with his mother and brother before starting training with Alan Wong at the Flinders Muaythai gym and also spent time training with Ernesto Hoost in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Should Slowinski make the switch, it will no doubt by a big boost for the sport in South Australia where MMA only recently became legalised.
