After weeks of reports, the UFC has today officially announced the heavyweight slug-fest between Roy Nelson and Mark Hunt set to headline their next event in Japan.

The Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan will host the UFC Fight Night event, scheduled to occur on September 21.

For Hunt it will be his first appearance since the epic clash with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in Brisbane in December with the 40 year-old Sydney based fighter taking time to heal from broken bones and general injuries since that bout which ended in a majority draw.

“Big Country” Nelson broke a two-fight losing skid in his last outing, knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira back in April. The 37 year-old American fighter will bring a 20-9 record into the fight which also includes wins against the likes of Stefan Struve, Mirko Filipovic, Matt Mitrione and Cheick Kongo.

Currently Mark Hunt is the ranked at number 8 in the UFC heavyweight ranks which Nelson slipping in just behind him in position 9. The title is held by Cain Velasquez.
