Luke Rockhold put an end to months of pre-fight trash talk today by submitting Michael Bisping in the second round of the main event of UFC Fight Night 55.

The middleweight grudge match was shown live on Fox Sports in Australia. UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs Bisping took place on Nov. 8 at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Rockhold was content with walking down Bisping at the start of the first round, hands down and casual. Bisping stayed busy with his striking as Rockhold stayed just out of reach. The contest was halted briefly after an accidental headbutt to Bisping. Rockhold took centre cage and following the restart began to pick up the pace. He forced Bisping into defensive mode as he pressured him with combinations of punches and kicks, and the round ended with Bisping bloodied up.

More of the same continued in the second frame and it wasn’t long before Rockhold clipped Bisping with a head-kick that sent him to the canvas. He followed Bisping there and locked up a guillotine choke from mount and forced the tap at 57 seconds of the second round.

Rockhold (13-2) is now 3-1 in the UFC with the victory, meanwhile Bisping slumps to 25-7 in MMA and 15-7 inside the promotion.
