New Zealand fighter Kieran Joblin lost his ONE Warrior Series bout with a shoulder injury forcing the 30-year-old to retire after the fist round, giving Shooto veteran Takuya Nagata the victory.
The bout took place as part of ONE Warrior Series 6 card which held in Singapore.
Both Joblin and Nagata were aggressive early with the Japanese fighter choosing to attack the legs early while Joblin looked to load up the overhand right. Midway through the round, while still upright, Joblin took his opponents back and looked to lock up the choke. Nagata attempted to slam his way out and it was during this part that Joblin started to grimace in pain. He was able to see out the round but in between rounds, the doctor came in and the fight was called.
Joblin drops to 23-12 (ONE 1-1) in his professional career while Takuya Nagata improves to 8-2-1 (ONE 1-0).
Notable on the card also, Australian based Northern Irish fighter, Alan Philpott won a unanimous decision over Zecharaiah Lange. It was an important win for Philpott who lost his first outing under the ONE Warriors Series banner back in April.
Earlier in the card, Auckland MMA trained Viet Anh Do secured an impressive first-round stoppage over his South Korean opponent, Taeho Park.
