Jamie Abdallah headlines PFL 7 against Smealinho Rama

Australian Jamie Abdallah and Smealinho Rama will headline PFL 7 and will be eager to rebound strongly to progress to the next round of the promotions light-heavyweight tournament after recent losses.

The fight card which was finalised earlier in the week, will take place at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey on August 30 (August 31 AEST).

A dominant performance for either fighter will put them in play-off contention for the US$1 million dollar prize money after both lost their respective bouts earlier this year.

Canadian based Rama (10-4), back in June had a back-and-forth brawl with ex-Bellator champion Brandon Halsey before a cut over his right eye forced the referee to intervene and wave the fight off at the end of the second round.

On the same card, Melbourne based striker Jamie Abdallah (7-3) came up against arguably the top seed in the tournament, multiple time World Jiu Jitsu champion Vinny Magalhaes. The 27-year-old is a former AFC champion though comes into the contest on a three fight losing streak,

A light-heavyweight contest between UFC vet Sean O’Connell (18-9) and Bozigit Ataev (4-1) co-headlines the card.

Started Martial Arts training after watching Mr Miyagi and Daniel-son in Karate Kid back in 1987. By the time MMA arrived many years later, I was hooked. Coverage of local MMA was via scarce posts on forums like the Underground and Sherdog. I embarked on covering the sport in 2002 and since then have written thousands of articles for both print and online media, before branching out and starting Fight News Australia in 2010. Outside the site, I dream of riding in an F1 car.
