Hex FS 2 fight card for Saturday night: Victoria’s first caged MMA event following ban lift

Following their debut event late last year, which saw local product Nick Patterson put American Steve Orosco away early in the main event, Melbourne based promotion Hex Fight Series returns for their second offering this Saturday night.

Another standout lineup from the startup promotion, Hex FS 2 will take place at the Melbourne Pavilion and will be the first Mixed Martial Arts event in Victoria following the State’s scrapping of the cage ban. The promotion will lead the way by using the fenced enclosure for the first time.

As Fight News Australia previewed last month, home town favorite Nick Patterson (15-4-1) will make his promotional return in the main event. Patterson comes up against former UFC fighter, and TUF Smashes competitor, Ben Wall (8-2-1).

If you can’t make it on the night, an online pay-per-view will be available at the Fight News Australia live Fights Page for US$14.99.

Currently riding a four-fight win streak, which includes a decision win over former UFC fighter Bernardo ‘Trekko’ Magalhaes, Patterson will be looking to continue his strong push for a UFC call up come Saturday night. Wall, on the other hand, will no doubt be eager to put back-to-back UFC losses behind him and take his first step back towards a recall to the big show. Like Patterson, Wall also holds a decision victory of Magalhaes in his career, defeating him under modified Combat 8 rules.

In the co-main event, and boasting a six-fight win streak, Western Australia’s Steve Kennedy (16-6) will meet Valor champion Callan Potter (8-3) from Victoria in a welterweight tussle. Both fighters will be making their promotional debuts on the night.

Meanwhile, Victorian based Nova Uniao fighter Rodolfo Marques (17-4-1) will be hoping to go 2-0 in the promotion when he meets California native, and World Series of Fighting veteran, Gabriel Solorio (11-8).

Former The Ultimate Fighter bad-boy Junie Browning has been taken off the card, with his opponent Jason Preece now scheduled to take on Luke Catubig.

    Fight Card:

    • Nick Patterson vs Ben Wall
    • Steven Kennedy vs Callan Potter
    • Rodolfo Marques vs Gabriel Solorio
    • Charlie Alaniz vs Matthew George
    • Luke Catubig vs Jason Preece
    • Raphael Berthet vs Jeshua McPhail
    • Anthony Cowley vs Byron Cowell
    • Mitch O’Dowd vs Tim Byrne
    • Sean Gauci vs Andrew Jacobs
    • Orhan Nuredin vs David Meak
    • Troy Resic vs Ryan Barry
    • Issey Buangala vs Jarod Barke
