Eternal 23: Aldin Bates headlines against Nick Wood in Perth

Aldin Bates will be hoping to avenge a KO loss he suffered in the amateur ranks to Nick Wood when the pair meet this Saturday in the main event of Eternal 23.

The event takes place at the W.A Italian Club in Perth, Western Australia.

Formerly from the United Kingdom and now training out of Mach1 Fight Club in Perth, Bates is undefeated as a professional (4-0) and has already made his case at a title shot with impressive win against Jack Della and Damian Fraser in his last two outings. A win here will put an exclamation point on becoming the number one challenger to fight the winner of next weekend’s title bout between champion Tristan Murphy and challenger Ty Duncan.

Wood has competed within the promotion a pair of times, splitting his bouts with a win and a loss. His last recorded bout was a majority decision loss to Tony Caruso. He will be looking to prove that the second round KO win over Bates back in 2014 in an amateur bout was no fluke.

Youngster Josh Della will face-off against the experienced Matt Eland in a middleweight bout.

Started Martial Arts training after watching Mr Miyagi and Daniel-son in Karate Kid back in 1987. By the time MMA arrived many years later, I was hooked. Coverage of local MMA was via scarce posts on forums like the Underground and Sherdog. I embarked on covering the sport in 2002 and since then have written thousands of articles for both print and online media, before branching out and starting Fight News Australia in 2010. Outside the site, I dream of riding in an F1 car.
