Multi-sport star Danial Williams is returning to Muay Thai in a bid to renew his World Title ambitions in the sport.
“Mini T” is set to take on Portuguese star Rui Botelho at ONE Fight Night 8: Bhullar vs. Malykhin on March 25. The card takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Williams has been plying his trade in MMA of late, going 3-1 in the sport with wins over Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaychirisoke, Namiki Kawahara and Zelang Zhaxi.
The 29-year-old’s most recent appearance was a third round TKO loss to Filipino star Jeremy Miado at ONE Fight Night 3 in October.
Williams is ranked #5 in both MMA and Muay Thai, but has lofty aspiration of becoming the first-ever three sport World Champion. That would mean adding a kickboxing strap to his collection as well.
The Perth native has exchanged callouts with ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Joseph Lasiri, and was also recently called out by strawweight kickboxing king Jonathan Di Bella.
His record stands at 6-2 in MMA and 24-8 in Muay Thai and kickboxing.
Botelho is a vastly experienced opponent, who will be fighting with his back against the wall.
The former European kickboxing champion has gone 1-5 since signing with the promotion in 2018, albeit against elite competition.
Among Botelho’s conquerors are Asahi Shinagawa, Taiki Naito, Panpayak Jitmuangnon and ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.
A win over Williams would thrust Botelho right back into the title mix.
The main event of ONE Fight Night 8 is a highly-anticipated ONE Heavyweight World Title showdown between champion Arjan Bhullar and interim king Anatoly Malykhin.
