    Commonwealth Games 2018: Five Aussie boxers progress to Gold Medal bouts

    It was a good day for the Australian Team at the Oxenford Studios, host venue for the Boxing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games with five out of seven team members progress from the semi-finals today.

    Among the victors Anja Stridsman, Harry Garside, Jason Whateley, Skye Nicolson and Caitlin Parker who all progress to Saturday’s Gold medal bouts.

    Eliminated today and settling for a bronze medal was Clay Waterman in the Men’s 81kg division. The Queensland boxer was edged on points by Sammy Lee from Wales while Taylah Robertson also failed to progress, proving no match for English boxer Lisa Whiteside.

    England has seven boxers represented on the final day followed by India and Northern Ireland with six each.

    Men’s 64kg (1:32pm AEST)

    • Thomas Blumenfeld (Canada) vs. Jonas Jonas (Namibia)

    Men’s 91kg (1:47pm AEST)

    • Jason Whateley (Australia) vs. David Nyika (New Zealand)

    Women’s 57kg (6:32pm AEST)

    • Michaela Walsh (Northern Ireland) vs. Skye Nicolson (Australia)
