After a successful ONE FC debut against former King of the Cage champion, Tony Johnson, at ONE FC 12, Chris Lokteff (12-1) will make his return at ONE FC 15: Rise of Heroes, where the Brisbane based heavyweight is slated to meet UFC veteran James McSweeney (12-11).
Lofteff joins Aussie featherweight Rob Lisita on the card, who is set to rematch former Legend FC featherweight champion Yusuke Kawanago.
Lokteff kicked off his ONE FC campaign with a hard fought split points decision win over Johnson back in November of last year at ONE FC 12: Warrior Spirit. With the win, the 27 year-old Integrated MMA fighter is currently enjoying a four-fight win streak.
McSweeney, a semi-finalist on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter and three-time UFC fighter, is coming off a submission win over Austrian fighter, Raffaele Picchietti, back in January at Slovenia’s Final Fight Championship 9 event. With previous victories over Jeff King, Kym Robinson, Felise Leniu and Sam Brown, the English born journeyman will be looking to maintain his undefeated record against Australian based fighters when he enters the ONE FC cage for the first time.
The promotion announced the addition to the card today and has also revealed that the winner will likely earn a shot at the inaugural heavyweight title.
ONE FC 15 will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, on May 2. The event will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Bibiano Fernandes and the promotion’s bantamweight Grand Prix winner Masakatsu Ueda of Japan.
