Perth based bantamweight Nathan Hynes made his professional debut on Malaysian promotion Jesselton Fight League on the weekend but it proved to be an unsuccessful one with the youngster going down to local fighter Joel Nickolson.
The bout took place at the 1Bornea Hypermall in Sabah, Malaysia on Saturday
A left hook from Hynes dropped his opponent in the early part of the fight however Nickolson popped back to his feet and secured the under-hooks which he used to secure a trip takedown straight into mount. Hynes popped his hips up and wrapped his legs around his opponent to escape before quickly dropping down in an attempt to finish the guillotine choke. Nickolson escaped and finished the round with short ground and pound from inside the guard.
In the second-round, Nickolson clinched with his opponent and in an attempt to escape, Hynes left his neck open allowing the local fighter to secure the standing guillotine choke to get the tap.
The event was headlined by former TUF China competitor, Malaysia’s Allen “Solomon” Song who submitted Filipino Joven Superales.
