Western Australia based middleweight Aldin Bates added another victory to his undefeated pro record on Saturday night, defeating a gutsy Nick Wood in what was an entertaining main event clash at Eternal MMA 23.
The event took place at the W.A Italian Club in Perth, Western Australia.
The opening round was primarily a standup battle with both fighters finding some success on the feet. Bates backed Wood up with a combination at one point and Wood was forced to drop down and look for a takedown. Bates showed good strength however and was able to keep the fight upright before once again going on the offensive with his striking. Wood showed no signs of backing down in the exchanges and the two men continued to go toe to toe. Wood turned it up towards round’s end forcing Bates to look for a takedown of his own.
Much of the same continued in the second frame until Bates connected with a solid right hand sending Wood stumbling backwards. Bates poured it on at that point landing multiple short shots up against the ropes but Wood was able to hold on until the bell. The fight was called off before the third round began with Wood suffering a broke jaw, giving Bates the victory. Video of the ending can be found below.

Formerly from the UK and now fighting out of Mach1 Fight Club in Perth, Bates moves his pro record to 5-0 with the victory and avenges a KO loss he suffered to Wood as an amateur back in 2014 in the process.
In the co-main event, Perth based youngster Josh Della submitted the experienced Matt Eland in a middleweight bout.
The next offering from the promotion (Eternal MMA 24) will take place March 11 in Queensland.
