Joblin vs Mumford; Alloway vs Vaile title fights headline CITC 7

New Zealand’s Kieran Joblin will look to defend his Carnage in the Cage (CITC) lightweight title this Saturday when he meets Brentin Mumford, while in the semi-main event former UFC fighter Ben Alloway will face-off against Kiwi Matt Vaile for the vacant CITC welterweight strap.

CITC 7 goes down at the Mackay Entertainment Centre in Queensland’s north.

It’s a quick turn around for Joblin (18-7) who less than three weeks ago competed in the XFC “Road to Pancrase” bout, where he defeated Ethan Duniam via decision. Joblin is a regular on CITC, having previously defeated Gokhan Turkyilmaz, Taela Kelly, and Jai Bradney. The 27-year-old has lost just twice in his last fourteen bouts, once to Canadian Alex Ricci and the other to former UFC fighter Bernardo Magalhaes.

It will be arguably Mumford’s (7-3) toughest assignment to date with the Lismore based fighter eager to jump-start his MMA career, having only fought once since October 2014. In that bout, Mumford, who splits his time in Australia and Thailand, secured a first-round stoppage over Sam Kitchener to earn himself a shot at the title. Mumford had previously captured the Fightworld Cup title back in 2013.

Former UFC fighter Ben Alloway (17-7) will be looking to rebound with a win following a recent loss to talented Sharaf Davlatmurodov in Russia back in July. The win ended a three fight winning streak for TUF Smashes semi-finalist who took out the Brace 2015 welterweight tournament. Alloway’s opponent, 25-year-old Kiwi Matt Vaile is unbeaten as a professional, having competed twice on Australian shores, winning against Lenny Kent and James Klingner. His last outing was on the Brace New Zealand card where he defeated Jo Van Duin.

Also on the card, local youngster Taela Kelly comes up against Western Australia’s Dai Jenkins, brothers Kimo and Keohu Smith face Nick Lesquiller and Joel McFarlane respectively
