Benny Alloway has been released from the UFC following back to back defeats in the promotion, and will now be fighting on the November Combat8: o4 card.

The news, which was first revealed by The MMA Corner today, comes after the Gold Coast based fighter was unanimously outpointed by Ryan LaFlare, followed by a submission loss to Zak Cummings in late August.

Alloway will now set his sights on the Combat8 welterweight title on November 9 in Newcastle where he will meet New Zealand born kickboxing champion Daniel Kerr. The appearance will be Alloway’s first for the hybrid fighting promotion — which follows its own modified MMA Rules.

The 32 year-old Gold Coast native last tasted victory at UFC on FX 6 back in December 2012 when he sensationally stopped Manny Rodriguez with a front kick, earning him the knockout of the night award. The win directly followed his stint in the The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes series, in which he made it to the semi-finals.

Daniel Kerr is the WKA light heavyweight South Pacific Muay Thai champion, with one source indicating, holds a 54-32-3 record in the sport.

The New Zealand born Woy Woy local also holds a pro MMA record of 3-2-1.

This addition to the C8:04 card, which will take place at the Newcastle Panthers club,  joins Rob Lisita vs Sam Bastin for the featherweight title. The show will also feature Timana Tahu’s combat sports debut, however an opponent for the dual rugby international has yet to be announced.
