Australia’s two-division world champion Liam Paro will put his IBF Welterweight World Title on the line against unbeaten WBO Welterweight World Champion Devin Haney at the Chase Center, San Francisco, on Sunday, December 20, 2026.
Paro (28-1, 16 KOs) has built his career on beating champions on their own turf. He took the IBF Super Lightweight World Title off Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico in 2024 and became a two-division world champion in Brisbane last June.
Now he faces a three-division world champion who has never lost, in his own hometown.
Two champions. Two belts. One Aussie heading into enemy territory.
Paro has won on the road before but this will be the biggest away game of his life. Win, and he becomes a unified welterweight world champion, beating an undefeated three-division champion in front of his own fans.
“Three years ago, I was on the undercard at Chase Center the night Devin fought Regis Prograis. I said back then that Haney versus Paro rolls off the tongue. Now it’s here. Champion versus Champion, two belts on the line, in his backyard,” Liam Paro said.
“I’ve never taken the easy road. I went to Puerto Rico and took the title off Matias in front of his own people. Devin’s a great fighter and I respect that. But I’ve been the underdog plenty of times and I’ve made history before. December 19, I’m coming to unify the division and make more history.”

Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney (33-0, 15 KOs) is the WBO Welterweight World Champion and a three-division world champion. Australian fans know him well. He beat George Kambosos Jr twice in Melbourne in 2022, was the first to become undisputed lightweight champion and then defended the crown.
Haney has since beaten Vasiliy Lomachenko, dominated Regis Prograis at Chase Center to win a world title at super lightweight and dropped Brian Norman Jr on the way to a unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title in November 2025.
“My resume speaks for itself. I’ve never been afraid to go into a champion’s backyard and put my record on the line. I went to Australia, took George Kambosos’ belts, and became undisputed lightweight champion of the world. Now I’m bringing another Australian world champion, Liam Paro, into my backyard. This time, I plan to take his belt and become a unified welterweight world champion right here at home,” said Devin Haney.
“Oakland is where my story started, and the Bay Area has always been part of who I am. The Valkyries just brought a championship to Chase Center, and on December 19, I plan to keep that championship energy going.”
