Thailand-based Queenslander Tyson Harrison has bounced back into the win column with a hard-fought split decision win over Thailand’s Sibmuen at ONE Friday Fights 68.

“John Wayne Noi” rebounded from an unfortunate first round TKO loss to Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai in September. The Sibmuen bout took place in the bantamweight Muay Thai division, on June 28 at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Known for his all-action fighting style, Harrison was true to his pre-fight words of taking a slightly more measured approach this time around. However, he didn’t need too much convincing to exchange with the southpaw Sibmuen.

Ultimately, he was the more aggressive of the two and landed the more telling shots down the stretch, which was enough to convince two of the three judges to score the fight in his favour.

Harrison appeared to be holding back some emotion as his hand was raised, with another memorable performance erasing the memories of his defeat to Kulabdam which left him sidelined for several months with a broken hand.

In victory, the 23-year-old improved his ONE record to 3-3, and renewed his push for one of the six-figure ONE Championship contracts that are on offer via the Friday Fights platform.

In the main event, Prajanchai PK Saenchai claimed the vacant ONE strawweight kickboxing world title by outpointing former divisional ruler Jonathan Di Bella over five rounds.

With the win, the Thai star adds the strawweight kickboxing crown to his ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title.
