After an impressive but unsuccessful outing at his One Championship debut last April, Perth based Danial ‘Mini-T’ Williams returned back to the promotion on Friday night, and this time was able to stop Thai legend Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke under MMA rule

The bout commenced the main card of One Championship: Bad Blood which took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The two fought toe-to-toe but the Perth-based fighter landed the heavier strikes and was able to get the stoppage in the second round.

Williams immediately went on the front foot, backing his opponent to the cage where the two showed their intentions early, throwing with knock-out intention.

Dejdamrong looked to grapple as he momentarily attempted to take Williams’ back but the Aussie escaped and both continue firing big shots in center of the cage with Williams landing the clearer shots.

The Scrappy MMA trained fighter showed his versatility by catching his opponent’s leg and taking Dejdamrong to the canvas. Williams progressed to half-guard and while looking to trap the arm, was able to move to side-control, all while unloading some heavy ground-and-pound to open up Dejdamrong’s nose.

Dejdamrong eventually escaped and the round finished with both continuing to exchange heavy shots.

An amazing round of action from these One Championship strawweights.

Dejdamrong clipped Williams with a head kick early in the second round but Williams showed good head movement to avoid the second one. Dejdamrong trips attempting a kick, which allowed Williams to immediately capitalise as he progressed to side-control. Williams attempted to move to mount but that gave Dejdamrong the room to escape back to his feet.

Dejdamrong had his back against the cage and Williams ripped a straight right to the mid-section. The reaction was delayed, but the punch was too much for Dejdamrong, who dropped to the canvas.

Williams secures the win, 1:35 into the second round, and moves his MMA record to 4-1 with a win against a former One Championship strawweight champion.

Later on in the card, in an ultra-close and entertaining battle, New Zealand athlete Mark Abelardo lost a unanimous decision to Rui Chen.
