It was tough going for Melbourne’s Kenny Tse and Andre Meunier last night at ONE Championship: Kingdom of Heroes, with both unable to get the win in their ONE Super Series bouts at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.

Having never fought under muay thai rules before in any of his 44 fights, Tse was going to be up against it from the opening bell given the calibre of the fighter standing across from him in Petchdam Kaiyanghadao.

With one of the most lethal left roundhouse kicks in all of stand-up combat sports, Petchdam wasted little time in searching for the early knockout, peppering Tse’s guard over and over, clipping him a number of times with the kick.

In just 86 seconds the final kick came, Petchdam landing cleanly with his shin to the right side of Tse’s face, sending him stumbling and falling to the canvas for the knockout. This is the second occasion now that Petchdam has stopped an Australian in the ONE Super Series, beating Josh Tonna in similarly devastating fashion back in July.

Having lost his debut bout in the ONE Super Series back in July, the heavyweight Andre Meunier was back and keen to show what he is capable of against Hong Kong born Cameroonian kickboxer Alain Ngalani.

Eager to stamp his dominance on the fight early, Meunier pushed forward on Ngalani and went looking for the early knockout, unleashing his powerful hands. Ngalani looked to be the quicker of the two, throwing up some crafty sidekicks that kept Meunier out at range.

Following a close first round between the two, the second round was well underway when an accidental groin shot from Meunier sent Ngalani to the canvas. Unable to continue, the fight was ruled a no contest due to an accidental knee to the groin.
