It was a mixed night for the Australian based fighters participating in the Rebel Fighting Championships event in Singapore last night.

Australian Top Team team-mates Sam Kei (pictured right) and Suman Mokhtarian (pictured left) participated on the under-card held at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore. The all Australian match-up between Michael Tobin and Pat Promrangka was cancelled earlier in the week.

Nitro light-heavyweight champion, Sam Kei was unsuccessful in his international debut, losing to South Korean fighter Doo Hwan Kim via a unanimous decision. The loss was Kei’s second on the trot having been defeated by Michael Turner back in May.

Suman Mokhtarian made it two wins from as many appearances in the promotion, stopping local fighter Ashraf Bin Shafi with punches in the second round.

Also notably on the card, Kenny Yeung who spent time training in Melbourne over the years scored a comfortable first round victory over Silvio Romero Da Silva.

The event featured the first-round of the Rebel FC featherweight tournament with former UFC fighter Miguel Torres being made to work, edging out a split points decision over Takahiro Ashida in the main event. Also progressing to the next round will be Will Chope who defeated Mauricio dos Santos Jr. via decision and Yojiro Uchimura who scored a TKO win over Reydon Romero.

Miguel Torres will now meet Will Chope in the next round later this year, while Yojiro Uchimura will face Michael Tobin who was given an automatic bye after his opponent pulled out earlier in the week.

    Main Card:

    • Miguel Torres def Takahiro Ashida via Decision (Split) – Featherweight tournament
    • Will Chope def Mauricio dos Santos Jr. via Decision (Unanimous) – Featherweight tournament
    • Yojiro Uchimura def Reydon Romero via TKO (Punches), Rd 1 – Featherweight tournament

    Preliminaries:

    • Doo Hwan Kim def Sam Kei via Decision (Unanimous)
    • Gyo Pyung Hwang def Kris Barras via Decision (Unanimous)
    • May Ooi def Sharmah Deviah via TKO (Punches), Rd 1
    • Syafiq Bin Abdul Samad def Kenny Thompson via TKO (Punches), Rd 1
    • Kenny Yeung def Silvio Romero Da Silva via TKO (Punches), Rd 1
    • Suman Mokhtarian def Ashraf Bin Shafi via TKO (Punches), Rd 2
