Yolanda Schmidt edged by Sveva Melillo in WMC world bantamweight title
Sydney’s Yolanda Schmidt bid for the WMC women’s Muay Thai bantamweight title was unsuccessful, as she was edged by Italian fighter Yolanda Schmidt.
The bout took place on the Muay Thai Fight night which took place as part of the Dubai World Expo exhibition.
It was a closely contested and technical battle that went down to the final strike but in the end, it was the Italian who edged the split points decision win to claim the vacant title.
The bout could have gone either way however Schmidt accepted the decision with the promotion also announcing that ‘discussions are underway for a rematch’ on social media.
Training out of PTJ Muaythai Gym, Schmidt drops to 35-12-1 while Melillo moves to 32-2.
