Brace promotions continued their 2014 championship tournaments with a 7-fight card earlier tonight as part of Brace 27.

The event was held at the Canberra Australian Institute of Sport Arena in Canberra and headlined by local fighter Ali Kocak taking on Sydney fighter Regan Wilson in a welterweight clash.

Fans of Kocak though, would go home disappointed as Wilson (pictured left) rocked Kocak early, before following him to the ground and ultimately getting the rear-naked choke submission in the first-round. A member of Lange’s MMA fight team, Wilson now progresses to the next round of the welterweight tournament where he joins undefeated Steve Micallef.

Sinosic-Perosh Martial Arts fighter Abel Brites bounced back with a quick submission win over Kevin Manderson in a lightweight fight. Formerly out of Canada and now calling Australia home, Manderson went in for an early takedown however Brites countered with an armbar for the tap. The win came only 26-seconds into the fight.

In an important light-heavyweight clash, South Australian Mike Turner was able to secure the biggest win of his career as he worked his way to a unanimous decision over Sam Kei, while in a featherweight bantamweight clash, Victorian youngster Jordan Lucas stayed undefeated and progressed with a unanimous decision over Richie Ivory.

Earlier on the card, Josh Lagudah scored a first-round TKO over Luke Logan, while Rob Wilkinson showed why he is one to keep an eye out as he took his record to 6-0 with a first round triangle choke submission over Kitt Campbell.

In the first fight of the night, Steve McKinnon submitted Mick Sumner with an opening round rear-naked choke

The next round of matches are tentatively set to occur on back-to-back nights August 8 & 9 at the Norths Leagues Club in New South Wales.
