His opponent Islam Makhachev captured the lightweight title back in October when he submitted Alex Oliveira to take his winning streak to 11 fights.

Both have lost just one bout in their professional careers. Volkanovski early in his career as a welterweight while Makhachev lost his second outing in the Octagon when he was stopped by Adriano Martins.

Volkanovski holds a 25-1 professional record compared to Makhachev’s 23-1.

An interim featherweight title between Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett is set as the co-main event of the card with local fighters Justin Tafa, Jimmy Crute and Jack Della Maddalena all expected on the main card.
