Fightworld Cup returns this Saturday with three new champions set to be crowned at Fightworld Cup 16, scheduled to be held at Nerang Policy Citizens Youth Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The event is being headlined by a highly anticipated womens bout as Jessy “Jess” Rose-Clark (pictured left) comes up against Kyra Purcell for the promotions vacant bantamweight title belt.

Both girls have rapidly climbed up the ranks, with Rose-Clark bringing a 2-0 record to the fight. In her last outing, Rose-Clark submitted world champion boxer/mixed martial artist Arlene Blencowe while in Purcell’s last outing she also submitted Blencowe. Purcell brings a 1-1 record having lost to highly regarded Fiona Muxlow back in 2009.

Current Fightworld Cup Bantamweight Title holder, Chris “Kewl Bonez” Morris will be looking at becoming a two-division champion when he meets PUMMA Gym fighter Tim Moore for the vacant flyweight title. In his second attempt at a Fightworld Cup belt back in August, Morris was able to defeat Jacob Mahony via a unanimous decision to capture the bantamweight title. Morris will bring a 6-3 record into the fight having last lost to Julian Rabaud who is a training partner of Tim Moore. Moore is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Grego Penaloza back in September and has notable wins over the likes of Matthew George and One FC veteran Thanh Vu.

In another womens title fight, Claire Fryer returns to action in what will be her promotional debut when she faces Melanie Malonie at 52 kilograms (Strawweight). Fryer has been inactive in recent times, having fought in MMA only a handful of times since her debut back in 2009. She is though coming off her most impressive win to date, which occurred back in October 2012 on the Brace Girls card. There Fryer scored a TKO victory over Japanese veteran Rina Tomita. Fryer’s only loss has come to Alex Chambers. Malone will be a large underdog for this fight and is coming off a unanimous decision loss to promising teenager Kaela Banney back in April. It was a rematch of their November 2012 fight, which Malone won via first-round submission.

Also on the card, Tweed Coast of Martial Arts fighter, Johnny Walker looks to rebound from a recent loss at Nitro when he faces Davin Marsh from the Ito Dojo. Belinda Sedgwick will be looking at picking up her first career victory, but will face a tough challenge against local girl Kenani Mangakahia. Rounding off the main card, South Australian fighter Suasday Chau returns to Queensland again to face Mitch Heron.
