Rafael dos Anjos will defend his belt against Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night in Vegas on July 7.

The lightweight title fight which many expected to make the cut for UFC 200 has been relegated to the main event of UFC Fight Pass. Yes, you read that right – UFC Fight Pass.

Dos Anjos successfully defended his title against Donald Cerrone in December with a first round TKO while Alvarez heads into the fight with back-to-back wins over Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis.

Ronda Rousey may very well make her return to the UFC in New York.

Rousey has been one of the key players involved in the campaign to have MMA legalised in the state of New York and this week it all became official.

The former champ admitted she would love to have the opportunity to fight on the card which is scheduled for November 12.

“I would love to have the opportunity to fight here because this is another time I feel like I earned the right to fight here because I fought for it,” she told UFC.com

“It wasn’t just something that fell on my plate; I was part of the process and I think that’s what a lot of the New York fighters will be feeling when they finally get to fight in their hometown.”

UFC 199 gets a ladies strawweight bout added to the card.

Jessica Penne returns to the octagon to face Jessica Andrade.

Penne hasn’t fought since challenging for the title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in June last year, when she was beaten to a bloody pulp. Andrade is making her first trip down to strawweight after previously competing in the bantamweight division.

It’s an interesting match-up for Penne considering she is still a top five strawweight (according to rankings) and has plenty of other potential dance partners in the top ten that don’t currently have fights booked yet. Instead she has been dished a newbie to the division. Hmmm.

UFC Tampa final card and local times are listed below.

Main Card: FOX Sports 10am AEST

    Rashad Evans vs. Glover Teixeira
    Rose Namajunas vs. Tecia Torres
    Darrell Horcher vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
    Hacran Dias vs. Cub Swanson

Preliminary Card: FOX Sports 8am AEST

    Michael Chiesa vs. Beneil Dariush
    Bethe Correia vs. Raquel Pennington
    Court McGee vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
    Drew Dober vs. Islam Makhachev

Early Prelims: UFC Fight Pass 6am AEST

    John Dodson vs. Manny Gamburyan
    Randy Brown vs. Michael Graves
    Cezar Ferreira vs. Caio Magalhaes
Omari Akhmedov vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Joseph Benavidez has officially parted ways with Team Alpha Male.

The number two ranked flyweight has followed TJ Dillashaw to the greener pastures of Elevation Fight Team in Colorado.

TAM’s new head coach confirmed the rumours on Stud Radio this week:

“He did leave the team, I mean, you train here in Sacramento, you’re part of Team Alpha Male, or you don’t live here.

“He hasn’t trained at all since I took over as head coach. I mean, I don’t know. I thought Joe would at least give a chance of me, and Danny, and Holdsworth running this new program along with Master Thong and Joey. But he never did. He came in town for one week, moved his house, did, like, one boxing class.

“I’m not upset at him for leaving because he didn’t leave under me as head coach. He left when the team was hurting – we didn’t have a coach we didn’t have much direction. So it is what it is.”

Jon Jones is looking really good ahead of UFC 197.

The former champ posts loads of training videos on instagram but this one shows off his freakish athleticism.

Weighing 5 pounds less, jumping 3 inches higher in 11 days. I feel like I’m peaking perfectly. Mind, body and spirit all in harmony
