Continuing with the one-night championship tournament format, Canberra based promotion Storm Damage will crown their lightweight champion this Saturday night, with Leo Diaz, Amabir Singh, Adrian Moxon and Luke Pung all vying for the vacant title in a four-man one-night lightweight tournament.

Storm Damage 5 takes place at the Southern Cross Basketball Stadium in Tuggeranong, ACT, and follows the promotion’s fourth offering back in March of this year where Steve Reeks became the inaugural featherweight champion after winning the promotion’s one-night featherweight tournament.

In the the co-main event on Saturday night, women’s featherweight champion, and recently signed Invicta FC Kiwi, Faith Van Duin (pictured right), will make her first title defense as she rematches accomplished boxing champion turned MMA fighter Arlene Blencowe (pictured left). In their first encounter, which took place in the Storm Damage 3 title tournament, Van Duin scored a majority points decision over Blencowe, before taking out the title with a fourth round triangle choke submission of fellow New Zealand fighter Kate Da Silva. This fight will be Van Duin’s first since that night, while Blencowe on the other hand has since notched up two victories from as many starts in MMA, with stoppage wins over Mae-Lin Leow and Kenani Mangakahia.

The welterweight strap will also be up for grabs on Saturday night with local fighter Peter Cross and Aussie veteran Jon Leven set to square off for the vacant title.

Meanwhile, a late replacement for Simon Osborne, Matthew Wade steps up on just one weeks notice to face Benjamin Sosoli for the number one contenders spot in the division, which is currently ruled by heavyweight kingpin Andrew Machin.
