After a strong start, Western Australian Soa Palelei succumb to strikes early in the second round in his bout against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva earlier today.

The two clashed on the main card portion of UFC 190 which took place HSBC Arena in Rio De Janiero, Brazil on Saturday night. The event was broadcast live in Australia on Mainevent PPV on Sunday afternoon.

After failing with the early takedown attempts, Palelei managed to wrestle Silva to the canvas late in the first round. From half-guard, 38-year-old Palelei went to work landing blows from the top before the round ended.

In the second-round, Silva regained control with a big uppercut that put Palelei on the back foot. Silva unloaded with strikes against the cage that dropped Palelei before follow-up shots secured the TKO stoppage.

The win came only 41-seconds into the second round for Silva (19-7-1, UFC 3-4-1) who came into the fight winless from his last four outings. With the loss Palelei will likely stay outside the top 15 UFC heavyweight rankings as he drops his record to 22-5 (UFC 4-3).
