River Daz has suffered his first professional Muay Thai defeat on debut at ONE Friday Fights 23 this past weekend.

“Filipino Flash” put in a spirited effort against experienced Romanian Silviu Vitez at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on June 30, but ultimately came up short on the judges scorecards.

Both fighters set a furious pace from the outset, but it was Vitez that landed the more effective shots.

Incredibly, the pace continued through rounds two and three as Vitez repeatedly unloaded leg kicks to stifle the movement that Daz is known for.

The Aussie’s speed was apparent throughout, as he willingly exchanged with Vitez.

Both fighters felt that they had done enough during the back-and-forth battle, with each raising a hand as the decision was announced. Ultimately, it was the power of Vitez that that got the unanimous nod from the judges.

Vitez scored his first win under the one banner after two losses at the hands of elite level opposition. The 29-year-old improved his overall record to 49-9-3.

Daz falls to 32-1-1 off the back of his first professional defeat, the 30-year-old also holds a 3-1-1 mark in boxing.
