Brentin Mumford will return to the cage for the first time this year with when he takes on lightweight Abel Brites in the main event of Eternal MMA 19. In the co-main event, Jessica “Jessy Jess” Rose-Clark also makes her return when she faces off against local fighter Janay Harding.

The event will take place at the Southport Sharks AFL club on Queensland’s Gold Coast this Saturday night.

Splitting his time training between Spartan Lismore and Tiger Muay Thai, Mumford has fought just once since October 2014 with that being a first-round TKO stoppage over Sam Kitchener at Carnage in the Cage 5. Prior to that Mumford lost a decision to Alex MacDonald.

Mumford’s opponent Abel Brites has been one of the most active fighters locally and comes into this fight fresh from his first from his first international outing, where he defeated Chinese opponent Guojun Han in the second-round at Rebel FC 4 last month. The win was a well needed for the Australian Top Team trained fighter who had previously lost three straight against top tier local lightweights Nick Patterson, Greg Atzori and Damien Brown, who later went on to sign for the UFC.

“Jessy Jess” will be hoping to taste victory for the first time in two years when she makes her return. The 28-year-old signed to women’s only MMA organisation Invicta FC however in her lone outing for the promotion, lost a unanimous decision to Swedish Pannie Kianzad back in July 2015. ‘Jessy Jess’ then flew to Japan September last year to take on Emiko Raika. Rose-Clark dominated the fight however as she failed to make weight, the fight was ultimately declared a no-contest. Rose-Clark is hoping to secure a win before returning backt of fight for Invicta FC later this year.

Standing in her way will be Janay Harding who after a short amateur career made her lone professional appearance last year in which she stopped Jess Doueihi in the first round at Brace 36.

In the other professional bouts on the card, Alby Figueroa from Australian Top Team meets Paul Loga from Sassom MMA while Zachary Hansford out of the VT1 gym comes up against Ty Duncan from Combat Lab.
