Megan Anderson (5-2) found her way back into the winners column after a dominating performance over highly touted prospect, Amber Leibrock (1-1) at Invicta FC 15, which took place earlier today in Costa Mesa, California. The Queenslander, who now trains out of James Krause’s Glory MMA & Fitness in Missouri, was 4-2 in her professional MMA career leading into the fight and was coming off a loss to Cindy Dandois in her Invicta FC debut back in September of last year.

The first round opened with Leibrock throwing big over hand rights, one of which managed to catch Anderson early on, staggering her on the feet. In an effort to compose herself she managed to tie Leibrock up against the fence and grind her out for the remainder of the round, utilising knees in the clinch, two of which connected beautifully with the jaw.

The second round started much the same as the first round ended, with Anderson trapping Leibrock against the cage. Leibrock attempted a head-and-arm throw but was unsuccessful. Once referee John McCarthy broke the fight up midway through the round we started to see some action with Leibrock throwing kicks and Anderson countering with a left hook before tying her up against the cage once more and doing damage with knees to the head. Leibrock began bleeding from the nose and breathing heavily giving Anderson the opportunity to take a step back and start throwing a flurry of punches. Leibrock then charged forward, the two fighters exchanging back and forth with Anderson getting the better of Leibrock in the final seconds, landing a right hand, left hook and knee combination to close out the round.

In the final round, Leibrock went looking for a submission but Anderson had clearly learnt from her last outing against Dandois and escaped. Once they were back on their feet Anderson pushed Leibrock against the fence once again and landed a big right hand causing Leibrock to double over before Anderson finished the fight with one last knee, dropping her to the mat.

Megan Anderson defeated Amber Leibrock via TKO at the 2:33 mark of the third round in the first fight of Invicta FC 15 card which was played live on UFC Fight Pass. Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino headlined the event, defending her featherweight title with a KO victory over Russia’s Daria Ibragimova in the first round.
