After impressing in his UAE Warriors debut back in 2020, Australian Top Team representative Josh Togo will challenge for the promotions welterweight title next month against Azerbaijani fighter Tahir Abdullaev.

The bout will serve as the co-main event bout on the UAE Warriors 33 event set to take place on September 17 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The event will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

Togo has built an impressive 11-4 professional record with wins over the likes of David Martinez and Ben Wall on his resume. An Urban Fight Night & former Eternal lightweight title holder, Togo has lost just once in his last nine outings and will come into the contest on the back of a decision victory against Brazilian Edimar Teixeira in June.

He made his UAE Warriors debut back in January 2020 and was victorious over Ali Dyusenov. The pandemic took hold and the Sydney-based fighter has had to wait to get back over.

    A big opportunity awaits.

His opponent, Tahir Abdullaev brings an impressive 13-1 record and has predominantly fought in his native Russia. He needed just 45-seconds to stop Daniel Skibiński in his UAE Warriors debut back in October.

The headline bout on the card will be a highly anticipated rematch between current featherweight champion, Canadian Jesse Arnett (20-8) and former champ, Ali Al Quaisi (12-6). The two met in early July however a cut ended the contest in the second round to give Arnett the controversial win.

It’s a double-header of events for the promotion with UAE Warriors 32 set to take on Friday, September 16 where Kevin Oumar (8-3) and Emilio Quissua (3-0) for the vacant UAE Warriors Africa light-heavyweight title.
