The Perth native scored a first-round submission victory over Randy Brown in front of his hometown crowd at UFC 284.
Maddalena made his UFC debut in January of 2022 and has gone on a 4-0 unbeaten run with all four finishes coming in the first round.
The win over Brown was Maddalena’s first submission win in the UFC and showed that the young Aussie is far more than simply a striker.
The win in Perth was also Maddalena’s third straight performance bonus and has shot the Aussie to number 14 on the UFC welterweight rankings.
