Brace 21 takes place this Saturday night (July 20) at the Norths Leagues Club in Cammeray, NSW. The show will be headlined by a middleweight bout between the Sinosic / Perosh trained Gerhard Voigt and Boxing Work’s Billy McAlees.

In his last appearance, Gerhard Voigt (4-3) faced Bulldog Parramatta Gym’s John Mitchell earlier in the year at Brace 19.  In what was a highly entertaining contest, the 28 year-old Auckland born fighter claimed the win via TKO deep into the second round.

Billy McAlees will be making his professional debut after going 11-2 in amateur competition. Despite the lengthy stint as an amateur, the 24 year-old, who is also a NSW Pankration gold medalist, has faced tough opposition, but until this point was yet to sign on as a pro.

A Bantamweight bout between Giancarlo Embradora from the Boxing Works Gym and VT1 Academy’s Mark Baskin has also been booked for the Sydney card. Both men are coming off TKO victories, with Embradora stopping Michael Lima last at MMA Down Under 3, while Baskin defeated Adam Corbett at Brace 19.

In a battle of undefeated prospects, KMA Gym’s Martin Nguyen (5-0) and Jamie Mullarkey will meet in an intriguing featherweight matchup. Nguyen made his promotional debut against Thomas “Road Rage” Ruderman in Canberra at Brace 18. In what was a dominant display from the 24 year-old, Nguyen ended the clash with punches in the second period. In a recent interview with Fight News Australia, the Sydney born fighter outlined why that victory was his most enjoyable to date. Mullarkey fights out of the Magnus Martial Arts Gym on the Central Coast and is undefeated after 4 appearances. At the end of 2012, he traveled to Greece for the Pankration World Championships where he picked up gold.

Francis Cullimore is a former Waratahs winger and is most recently known for his win on the local Aussie MMA reality series, Wimp to Warrior. The Dee Why based Cullimore will take the next step in his Mixed Martial Arts endeavor when he faces Judoka, Harry Grech.

Other matchups slated for the show include a middleweight bout between KMA’s Kaptain Henare and Laauli Faatamala from Lange MMA. Also from the Lange Gym, Will Swann, who defeated Peter Cross recently at Cage Conquest 2, will face Temple Dogz kickboxer Darwin Sagurit. And after making his MMA debut earlier in the year, Fighters Against Child Abuse Australia (FACAA) founder and president Adam Washbourne will meet Craig Bath from Synergy Self Defense & Fitness.

    Brace 21 Fight Card:

    • Gerhard Voigt vs Billy McAlees
    • Giancarlo Embradora vs Mark Baskin
    • Martin Nguyen vs Jamie Mullarkey
    • Francis Cullimore vs Harry Grech
    • Kaptain Henare vs Laauli Faatamala
    • Will Swann vs Darwin Sagurit
    • Adam Washbourne vs Craig Bath
    • Danny Hopper vs Sonny Teokotai
