Elliot Compton will return to ONE Championship this weekend, but this time as a mixed martial arts fighter.
“The Dragon” returns to the Singapore-based promotion for the first time since 2020, when he takes on ONE debutant Alisson Barbosa at ONE Friday Fights 3 on February 3.
Compton has previously appeared in the Circle under Muay Thai and kickboxing rules from 2018-2020, during which time the former Muay Thai World Champion went 1-3.
The 34-year-old’s most recent appearance was a knockout loss to Dutch kickboxing legend Nieky Holzken at ONE: BIG BANG II in December 2020.
Since then, Compton has turned his attention to MMA and made his debut in the sport at Beatdown Promotions 1 in July 2022, where he stopped Japanese veteran Takuya Oyama with knees in the first round.
Now, the BJJ brown belt returns to the global stage in a familiar setting with ONE.
In Barbosa, Compton will be facing a vastly experienced foe in his second MMA appearance.
Fighting out of Phuket Fight Club, Barbosa is a former Brazilian BJJ National Champion and sports a professional MMA record of 18-7 dating back to 2012
The 33-year-old has fought around the world in his career, but ONE Friday Fights 3 will mark his first recorded appearance since 2019.
The event is the third in ONE’s weekly series at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand and is headlined by Thai knockout artist Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi, who takes on fellow Thai striker Petsukumvit Boi Bangna in a bantamweight Muay Thai clash.
