Former The Ultimate Fighter Smashes lightweight competitor Ben Wall will make his local return following a stint in the UFC. The Brisbane based fighter, who is preparing for the fight at Alliance MMA in California, will face off against local Victorian favourite Nick Patterson.

The pair will headline the HEX Fight Series 2 event scheduled for March 14 at the Melbourne Pavilion in Victoria.

Wall (7-2-1, HEX 0-0) is coming off two consecutive knock-out losses in the UFC against Alex Garcia and most recently Justin Salas back in May 2015. Prior to that he had defeated Nick Honstein, Rob Lisita and Jai Bradney in local promotions. On the 2012 local season of The Ultimate Fighter, Ben Wall lost his opening fight to Colin Fletcher.

After originally competing in MMA fights on local kickboxing promotions in Victoria, Nick Patterson (15-4-1, HEX 1-0) has risen to prominence in the Australian lightweight ranks in the last few years with some impressive performances. Notable wins includes a unanimous decision verdict over former UFC fighter Bernardo “Trekko” Magalhaes back in February 2014. He followed that up with a TKO over Dean Purdon and a stoppage over previously unbeaten American fighter Steve Orosco.

Also announced for the promotion’s second event is a welterweight clash between Steven Kennedy (16-6, HEX 1-0) and Valor champion Callan Potter (8-3, HEX 0-0). Kennedy is on a run of six straight victories, while Potter has lost just once in his last eight fights, with that coming at the hands of Corey Nelson back in May, 2014.

Victorian based Nova Uniao fighter Rodolfo Marques will be hoping to go 2-0 in the promotion when he meets English fighter Shay Walsh, while flyweights Charlie Alaniz and Matheus Silva clash in an international bout. Also notably, former TUF bad-boy Junie Browning will be looking at kick-starting his career when he faces Jason Preece.

    Fight Card:

    • Nick Patterson vs Ben Wall
    • Steven Kennedy vs Callan Potter
    • Rodolfo Marques vs Shay Walsh
    • Charlie Alaniz vs Matheus Silva
    • Junie Browning vs Jason Preece
    • Anthony Cowley vs Byron Cowell
    • Mitch O’Dowd vs Tim Byrne
    • Tom Gathercole vs Jarod Barke
    • Troy Resic vs Ryan Barry
