Diego ‘El Pantera Negra’ Pereira secured a third consecutive win on Saturday night beating Kirato Haebara in the main event of Beatdown Promotion 8.

The took place at the Eatons Hotel in Brisbane’s North and was streamed live on YouTube.

Fighting out of the Paraestra Okinawa Gym in Japan, Haebara dominated the first round where he was able to take the fight to the ground where he secured the mount and took back control shortly after. Unable to find the submission finish, Haebara regained mount and finished it with strong ground-and-pound.

Pereira regained his composure in the second, wrestling Haebara to the ground. The Japanese fighter attempted a leg lock unsuccessfully that gave Pereira the top position, predominantly half-guard where he looked to throw strikes intermittingly.

A low blow seemed to go unnoticed by the referee early in the third, who admittedly may have been unsighted, as Pereira came forward and the two ended up on the canvas again. Pereira with the top position came close to taking the back before settling inside guard. Haebara attempted to get up but failed with his takedown attempt, giving Pereira top position again however late in the bout the international opponent got back to his feet only to be met by a flush knee as the fight ended.

The judges scored the card 29-28 all to The Fight Centre-trained Pereira who moves to 11-7. Haebara drops to 5-2, 2 draws.

In the semi-main event, Paul Loga punished Pierre Daguzan who was hailing from France and training out of Hawaii.

On their feet, Loga had unloaded a series of heavy punches that rocked Daguzan, allowing Loga to pounce for a takedown. Daguzan looked to pop straight back to his feet, allowing Loga to take the back, get the arms around the neck, and secure the tap.

The win came 2:29 into the first round as Loga, who trains out of Base Training Centre, moves to 10-8. Daguzan drops to an even 8-8.
