Queensland’s Aaron Blackie has been confirmed for the Professional Fighters League’s (PFL) Challenger featherweight series with fighters vying for the opportunity to compete in the main season.

The promotion is running contender series across numerous weight divisions and confirmed the featherweight event will take place on Saturday, March 12, Australian time at Universal Studios in Orland, Florida.

Out of the eight featherweight contenders announced, one will move on to the regular season while others do have the opportunity of moving to a development path with the promotion in hopes of joining a future season.

Joining Blackie in the featherweight contender series, include EFC champion Reinaldo Ekson (17-5), wrestling standouts Edwin Cooper Jr. (5-1), and Scottie Stockman (3-1) as well as South Korea’s Do Gyeom Lee (8-4) and American up-and-comers Brahyan Zurcher (2-0), Josh Blyden (9-2) and Mike Barnett (11-3).

A Judoka and BJJ black belt, Blackie holds an 8-2 professional MMA record.

He made his debut back in 2014 and quickly built a 4-0 record before a serious injury jeapordised his career. He spent nearly three years on the sidelines before returning in 2018 and has gone 4-2 since then.

In his last outing, he scored an impressive 25-second KO of Diego Pereira.
